| For
a professional look manual, book or presentation be
sure to use the best binding available to complete the
process and enhance the quality digital print.
Depending on the budget and application we have a wide
and varied range of binding options including saddle
stitching, thermal covers, colour coils, wiro combs
and perfect binding.
Thermal
A glue which has been applied to the spine
of the cover is activated by a thermal binder. The inserts
are then added. When the glue cools the inserts are
set.
Coil
A variety of colours and sizes are available
when binding with coils. This process makes it easy
to add or delete pages and the pages will lay flat.
Coil diameters vary from 4mm up to as large as 33mm.
Used for larger documents where high strength is required.
Twin
Loop Wire Fashionable and popular wire binding
enables the document to lay flat as well as wrap around
when opened.
The comb is tightened so that the document has a secure
and professional finish. |
Saddle
Stitching
Traditionally, saddle stitching is the insertion
of either two or three specially designed staples in
the folded spine of the publication. Depending on the
size and nature of the book, the stitches can be of
a varying weight or thickness.
Saddle stitching is a perfect option for publications
up to roughly 80 printed pages. Over this page quantity,
perfect binding is a better and more efficient option.
Perfect Binding
Used for large page quantities, perfect binding
is the conventional method paperbacks and larger books
are bound. With several styles and types of perfect
binding available, be sure to use the right one for
your budget and desired finish.
Artwork
Preparation of your artwork is similar to when preparing
for conventional offset printing. Images should be supplied
to a minimum of 200dpi in CMYK mode. When supplying
your files please either convert your fonts to paths,
where possible, or supply the fonts used to ensure the
integrity of the print job.
Artwork can be supplied in most Mac and PC programs
or as high resolution PDF files with fonts embedded.
Shotz also offer a full service creative
design and artwork service.
